Backstory:The strain that started the cake craze,Wedding Cakeis relaxing with a strong body and head high, likely from its Kush and Cookies lineage. The mix of Triangle Kush and Animal Mints gives it a unique rich and tangy flavor profile with sweet cookie notes.

Why we love it:Have your cake and smoke it too—there’s a reason why this strain spawned many more cakes and was Leafly’s Strain of the year in 2019. Unfortunately, the Wedding Cake strain doesn’t really taste like a wedding cake, but rather earthy and sour. Only towards the end do you get a slight hint of sugary sweetness. But despite its deceiving name, the Wedding Cake strain is super potent, with THC levels around 27%.

If you are a guest at a wedding, your mind is firmly focused on the party that takes place after the ceremony. Yes, the initial union is lovely and everything, but it is also mind-numbingly dull! Wedding Cake weed is an indica-dominant hybrid that is a cross of Cherry Pie and Girl Scout Cookies (GSC). However, a few well-known and respected budsmen believe it is actually a cross of Animal Mints and Triangle Kush. The strain was bred in Southern California initially. Later, a breeder called Kind Love helped bring it to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.

Once you get past the earthy and doughy scent, you will be rewarded with an alluring, sweet aroma. This strain’s notes proved that its backcrossed genetics mixed well and kept the all-important tart and sugary qualities of its lineage.
